A few days after we
had created the voluntary stray dog rescue team of our village, we had to deal
with an "emergency” one would say: 11 mixed-breed puppies (one Serbian
mixing, Caucasian and Greek shepherd breed) which were spotted in different places
just outside our village.
Of the 11, two were
males and the rest females ... among the females was our favorite Irva, a
combination of Caucasian and Serbian breed, about 2.5 months, very playful and
friendly.
Our village is a
station of the railway line of OSE ((Hellenic Railways Organization). The lack
of suitable housing for our stray puppies led to the accident Irva had with a
passing train ... The consequence was a brain concussion and dysfunction in the
nervous system.
Immediately she followed
the proper treatment carried out in a safe environment, thanks to a member of
our team which offered the courtyard of the house and an available dog kennel
that she could take her medication and therapy and monitored closely daily ...
the days passed and meanwhile we were praying that this accident would not have
created a permanent health problem in our good Irva...
Slowly she began to
heal, to have appetite, playing with Mavroula, the female adult dog of our volunteer
and to go on a regular basis for new tests to control the nervous system and
the condition of the organs of the head ... recently we did some exams in the Ophthalmology
Department of the Veterinary Faculty of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for
her eyes, her ears and her brain in general with the appropriate X-ray...
She is currently 4
months old, a healthy and a happy puppy, she hears and sees 100% and the only dysfunction
that exists in Irva has to do a little different behavior ... which does not
anyone understand at first glance ... you need to observe her carefully in
order to realize that she periodically repeats certain movements, e.g. circling
around herself for 2-3 seconds ... surely this is a puppy who just needs an extra
care and attention, without meaning that
this fact complicates the daily interaction and coexistence with Irva.
The rest of her
brothers and sisters have already found their forever homes and families.
Our favorite Irva, still
hosted by a member of our team who opened her home once was the accident had occurred...
she has a son who is 11 years old who is dear to our sweet Irva and as shown Irva
also has expressed her love to the kid!
Two months now we are still looking for her forever family and home.
She will be given vaccinated,
wormed, with an adoption contract and with the terms that she will be chipped in
the name of her new guardian and neutered at the appropriate time.
She is a puppy that we
are sure will deeply appreciate that you as a family will open your house and your
arms and provide the care and attention she deserves ... our Irva will thank
you every time, giving back only love and joy, co-creating with you memories
that you will keep forever in your heart!
Help us in our fight
for love and compassion.
If for some reason you
cannot adopt, at least share the story through your personal social network and
with people who could adopt Irva in order to increase the chances to finally
find her forever family and also creating altogether the end story of her
adventure which will be the best “Happily ever after” end scenario… like in
fairy tales ... although Irva’s story will be a reality and a relieving truth,
thanks to the compassion, sensitivity and our cooperation!
